Terms of Use
Effective 14 September 2026 · Applies to Sharpen for Android (com.sharpen.daily)
Sharpen is a free daily puzzle. There is no account to open, nothing to buy, and nothing you can upload — so most of what a set of terms usually covers does not exist here. What is left is short.
These terms apply when you use Sharpen (“Sharpen”, “the app”), published by Northway Dev Team (“we”, “us”). By installing or using Sharpen you accept them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. You can reach us at gabrerllehuffmanhuffman@gmail.com about anything on this page.
1. Your licence to use Sharpen
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Sharpen on devices you control, for your own personal, non-commercial use.
You may not resell the app, redistribute it outside the store it was published on, or reverse-engineer, decompile or modify it — except where that right cannot lawfully be restricted.
2. Who may use it
Sharpen is a general-audience word and trivia app, intended for people aged 13 and over. It is not directed at children, and it will not be listed as a children's app, because the ad-supported build serves advertising.
3. No account, and nothing to buy
There is no sign-up, no login and no profile. You do not give us a name, an email address or a password, because there is nowhere for any of that to go.
Sharpen is free, and there are no in-app purchases and no subscriptions. The app contains no payment path of any kind, so there is nothing to bill, nothing to cancel, nothing to restore and nothing to refund, and we never see or handle payment details.
Settings shows a Remove ads row marked Coming soon. That row is disabled and there is nothing behind it today. It is a note about something that may exist later, not an offer, and nothing on this page or in the app should be read as promising it.
4. Ads, and rewarded ads
Sharpen shows ads supplied by Google AdMob. Where the law requires it, Google's consent form asks you before any ad is requested. What is collected, and by whom, is set out in the Privacy Policy.
Four things in the app can be unlocked by choosing to watch a rewarded ad: an extra hint, skipping a question, opening a day from the archive, and replaying a day you have already finished. Each one works the same way:
- It is always optional. The reward is stated before the ad, there is always a way to decline, and declining costs you nothing.
- It never costs money. The only thing a rewarded ad asks for is your attention.
- Today's puzzle and your streak are never behind an ad. Unlocking a day from the archive does not change your streak in either direction, and no ad can repair a streak you have already broken.
Ads come from Google and cannot be guaranteed to be available at any given moment. Nothing you already have depends on one loading.
Sharpen is distributed through Google Play. Google's own terms apply to that distribution and to the ads you are shown, and nothing on this page changes them.
5. Acceptable use
There is very little you can do to anybody else through this app, because nothing you do in it is sent anywhere. What is left is the app itself and the service that delivers its puzzles. So:
- Do not interfere with the app or with the content service, or try to disrupt, overload or automate requests against either.
- Do not defeat the content protection. Puzzle bundles are signed and encrypted, and the app accepts only content that verifies. Do not attempt to strip, forge or work around that, and do not attempt to feed the app content we did not publish.
- Do not extract or republish the puzzles. The questions, answer options and explanations are not yours to copy, scrape, mirror or redistribute, whether taken from the app or from the content service.
- Do not try to take a reward without the ad that grants it, or otherwise work around the points where the app asks.
And the other half of that, stated plainly rather than left for you to test: there is no leaderboard, no score submission and no server that records how you did, so there is nothing here to cheat at. The twenty-second question timer is not enforceable on a device you control, and we do not try to police it.
The one rule the app does apply is about the clock. If the device clock looks as though it has been set back, or travel has repeated a day you already played, the puzzle still opens and your result is still recorded — it simply does not count towards your streak.
6. The app and its puzzles are ours
Sharpen — the app, its name, its design, and its puzzle content including the questions, the answer options and the explanations as written and compiled — belongs to us or is used by us under licence.
The licence in clause 1 lets you play the app. It transfers nothing else, and it grants no right to reuse, adapt or redistribute the content. Rights not expressly granted are reserved.
If you believe something in the app infringes your rights, write to the address in clause 14 and say what it is and where you saw it, and we will look into it.
7. Privacy
Sharpen has no account and no server that stores anything about you. Two things do leave your device — a puzzle download, and in the ad-supported build an ad request — and the Privacy Policy says exactly what each one involves. It is the document to read on this subject; these terms do not restate it.
8. Your progress lives on your device
Your streak, your stats and your history of past days are stored on your device. There is no account to sign into, and no copy of any of it held by us.
That means clearing the app's data, uninstalling the app, or losing or resetting the phone loses it, and we cannot restore it for you — not as a policy, but because we never had it. If you have Android's own backup turned on, Android may be able to restore some of it to a new device; that is Google's service operating under Google's terms, not ours.
9. No warranty
Sharpen is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows.
Questions and explanations are written and reviewed before they ship, and they can still be wrong. They are general-interest puzzle content, not a reference work, and should not be relied on as authoritative.
Sharpen is a puzzle, not an assessment. Nothing in it measures intelligence, aptitude or ability, and no score it shows you is a diagnostic, educational or professional evaluation of any kind.
New days need a working connection to download. Days already on your device keep playing with no connection at all, but we do not promise that the content service is reachable at any particular moment.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data or of progress, arising from your use of the app.
Sharpen is provided free of charge and we never receive any payment from you, so where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to USD 50.
11. Changes, and availability
We may update the app and these terms. A material change to these terms is shown by a new effective date at the top of this page, and continuing to use Sharpen afterwards means you accept it.
We may change or discontinue features, and we are not obliged to keep the app or the content service available indefinitely.
Puzzle content can be corrected after it has been published. A question you meet again in the archive may therefore read differently, or carry a different explanation, from the one you first saw.
A change of language or difficulty applies from your next puzzle. It does not alter a puzzle already in progress, or one you have already played.
12. Ending this licence
You can stop at any time by uninstalling the app. There is no account to close and no subscription to cancel, so that is the whole of it — see clause 8 for what uninstalling does to your progress.
The licence in clause 1 ends when you uninstall the app, or if you breach these terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, where Northway Dev Team is established, and the courts of India have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. This does not affect any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the law of the country where you live, which apply wherever Sharpen is available.
